Abstract
The Hadar Formation of Ethiopia is renowned for its superb mammalian fossils, but there is still some doubt about the age of the Hadar faunas and their relations to faunas from other sites despite intense efforts to date the Hadar material1,2. Here I report a stratigraphical tie between the Hadar Formation and formations in the Lake Turkana region, which helps to relate fossil faunas from the two areas.
