Insulating ground state and nonmetal–metal transitions

Abstract

For over a decade there has been intense activity in the field of nonmetal–metal transitions in condensed systems in general and in solids in particular. The object of this review is to pinpoint the nature of the insulating ground state and to outline recent trends in our understanding of the metallic state and related phase transition.
