An interpretation of the Voyager measurement of jovian electron density profiles

The large vertical extent and diurnal variation in the electron density profile of Jupiter observed in radio occultation by Voyager 1 imply a homopause eddy diffusion coefficient of 1ā€“3Ɨ105 cm2 sāˆ’1 and an exospheric temperature of about 1,300 K.
