Subsurface movements of stone artefacts and their implications for the prehistory of Central Africa

Naturevolume 266pages812815 (1977) | Download Citation

The general and systematic character, in Central Africa, of a postsedimentary process of vertical redistribution of stone artefacts buried in a Kalahari sand mantle is strongly suggested. This invalidates the prehistoric nomenclature and chronology of this area and may have implications on the palaeoclimatological interpretation of stone-line profiles.
