Abstract
FUSION of fungal protoplasts after treatment with polyethylene glycol (PEG) has been described as a new technique for intra-specific heterokaryon formation at high frequency1–3. We now report the formation of interspecific somatic hybrids between Penicillium roquefortii and P. chrysogenumby PEG-induced fusion of their protoplasts.
