Candidate for LMC X-5

Naturevolume 257page110 (1975) | Download Citation

A NEW X-ray source in the Large Magellanic Cloud, LMC X-5, has been reported1. I wish to draw attention to the close proximity of the radio sources MC32 and MC33 to the best X-ray position. According to the positions of MC32/33 given by McGee et al.2 they lie just outside the X-ray 90% confidence level error box for LMC X-5. In Fig. 1 I show the 6-cm radio contours of MC32/33 from ref. 2 with the X-ray error box superimposed on a plate of the region.
