Long-range transport of photochemical ozone in north-western Europe

Abstract

Measurements of the concentrations of ozone and trichlorofluoromethane in the atmosphere over various parts of the southern British Isles provides evidence to suggest that photochemical ozone and the pollutants from which it is formed may be transported into the region from their origins in continental Europe. It seems likely, therefore, that even isolated areas, away from centres of industrialisation, may suffer the effects of this pollution.
