DNA synthesis in ‘nuclear monolayers’ from BSC-1 cells infected with herpes virus

Abstract

HERPES simplex viruses (HSV) produce latent (as well as overt) infection in man. Recent evidence seems to indicate that they can also transform mammalian cells in culture1,2. Furthermore, seroepidemiological3 and molecular hybridisation4 studies have suggested a possible causal relationship between genital infection with HSV type II and cervical cancer.
