Abstract

MUCH experimental evidence supports the view that brain amines may be related to behaviour, but more data are necessary regarding the relative roles of dopamine (DA), noradrenaline (NA) and serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) (5HT). The behavioural states have been mainly investigated using either drugs which modify catecholamine metabolism1–12 or conditioning in which stress cannot be excluded13.
