Grammar of a Movement Sequence in Inbred Mice


DETAILED descriptions of mammalian movement sequences are extremely rare. Such descriptions are necessary if we are to understand how behaviour is organized. We have found hierarchical principles of organization by describing in detail the sequences of face grooming components in mice. Grooming in rodents is an easily elicited movement complex that has proved useful in a variety of studies of behavioural integration1,2.
