L-DOPA: Effect on Ethanol Narcosis and Brain Biogenic Amines in Mice

Abstract

L-DOPA augments ethanol-induced narcosis in mice1. Determination of brain biogenic amines suggested that the enhancement effect may be due in part to the marked increase in brain dopamine following L-DOPA administration. Here we provide further evidence to implicate dopamine in L-DOPA-induced augmentation of ethanol narcosis.
