The Silica Budget of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current

Abstract

THERE is disagreement as to whether the Antarctic Circumpolar Current is a major source of dissolved silica arising from the dissolution of glacier flour1–3 or a sink due to sedimentation of diatomaceous opal4,5.
