In the extensive comment by Zimmer et al1 on our article2 three points of criticism are expressed: (1) a simultaneous publication dealing with the same topic3 has not been cited, (2) the reported results are not specific for CD56pos NK-cells because CD3pos NKT-cells were not excluded from the analysis and (3) the degranulation of CD56dimCD16neg in response to tumor targets does not fit to previous studies reporting cytotoxic effects after co-incubation with CD56dimCD16pos NK cells.
