Frequency of Blood Feeding in the Mosquito Aedes aegypti

Abstract

THE probability that a female mosquito transmits a pathogen from one host to another depends, in part, on the frequency of blood feeding. Aedes aegypti (L.) is a vector of several arboviruses, whose feeding frequency has been measured in the laboratory1–4. We now present a direct field estimate of this parameter.
