Unique Bedrock and Soils associated with the Teesdale Flora

An Erratum to this article was published on 12 November 1971

Abstract

This article describes the geological factors which have contributed to the formation of the unique bedrock geology and soils of the metamorphosed limestones on Widdybank and Cronkley fells in Upper Teesdale. The survival of the relict arctic–alpine flora is probably directly related to the distinctive geology of the area.
