Abstract
In the past two years notable advances have been made in X-ray astronomy. The first X-ray pulsar has been discovered, several variable sources have been observed, and more X-ray sources have been identified with optical and radio objects. This article by Dr Pounds of the Leicester group reviews the progress that has been made.
