Neutron Diffraction by a Piezoelectric Resonator

Abstract

IT has been reported in neutron diffraction measurements that the neutron detector signal is enhanced and can be modulated when the diffraction crystal is piezoelectrically vibrated at a resonance frequency1–9. The time averaged enhancement is an increasing function of vibration amplitude and the modulation is at twice the resonator frequency.
