Prebiotic Synthesis of Polypeptides by Heterogeneous Polycondensation of Amino-acid Adenylates

Abstract

Certain types of clays may have played a catalytic part in the evolution of polypeptides. The active forms of ammo-acids, concentrated by adsorption on the clay particle surface, are shown to condense to form polypeptides of different but discrete sizes.
