Abstract
SINCE the discovery of an activator of plasminogen in animal tissues1, and in saline extracts of human tissues2, its presence in endothelial cells of human veins has been convincingly demonstrated many times3–6. Todd7 has also shown focal areas on plasminogen activator activity in fibrinolysis autographs of human thrombi. Our purpose here is to describe the nature and properties of an activator of plasminogen found in saline extracts of human thrombi, which appears to have a separate identity from other known activators.
