Ribosomal Subunit Exchange in the Cytoplasm of a Eukaryote

Abstract

Ribosomes in yeast cytoplasm frequently undergo subunit exchange. Thus the dissociation and re-formation of ribosomes between successive rounds of protein synthesis appears to be a universal mechanism.
