Prolongation of Survival of Tumour-bearing Animals by Transfer of “Immune” RNA with DEAE Dextran

Abstract

RESTORATION of allograft immunity to a second set time is possible with “immune” RNA, even when there is Ehrlich ascites tumour in the recipient animal1,2. McCarthy showed that the presence of Ehrlich ascites tumour in mice delays the rejection of skin allografts3, and Mannick and Egdahl transferred adoptive allograft immunity in rabbits by spleen cell RNA using in vitro incubation with lymphoid cells4. This experimental model of Ehrlich ascites tumour in White Swiss recipient animals has also been studied in this laboratory in relation to tumour growth resisting factors and host immune status5,6.
