Orientation and Control of Transcription in E. coli Phage λ

Abstract

All the cistrons within the inner right quarter of the λ phage genome are transcribed leftward from genes N to int. A promoter is located to the left of N. The product of N is required for transcription initiated at this newly identified promoter but has no effect on the transcription of cistron N.
