Random Coil Conformation of Polypeptide Hormone Precursor Protein in Endocrine Cells

Abstract

There is evidence that certain polypeptide hormones are synthesized and stored as protein precursors with a primary structure which includes a high proportion of carboxyl and carboxamido side chains, and a secondary structure which is predominantly that of a random coil polymer.
