Photo-ion Kinetic Energy Analysis with a Photoelectron Spectrometer

Abstract

PHOTOELECTRON spectrometry, using various forms of energy analysers, continues to be a powerful tool for determining the binding energies of electrons in molecules. Our purpose now is to draw attention to a secondary use for the retarding-grid type of instrument, namely, the production of a photo-ion kinetic energy spectrum for a gas.
