Abstract
In the past, the high risks of fire in oxygen have not been appreciated. Where chambers, diving vessels or space vehicles have contained electrical equipment, hot surfaces or poorly disciplined men, fires have been frequent and fatal, although poorly publicized. In most situations, however, the risks of fire are avoidable.
