Vision in Octopus and Squid: Rhodopsin and Retinochrome in the Octopus Retina

Abstract

Vision in cephalopods is frequently found to be controlled by a dual system of the photosensitive pigments rhodopsin and retinochrome. The implications of such a system have been investigated for the octopus (first article) and the squid (second article).
