Abstract
IN the course of investigations on the modification of tumour radiosensitivity by porphyrins1–4, we have found that haematoporphyrin (HP) decreases platelet adhesiveness to glass and platelet aggregation induced by adenosinc diphosphate (ADP). Recent reports have described micro-agglutination of erythrocytes5 and destructive changes in platelets6 produced by HP in the presence of light of wavelengths corresponding to absorption maxima of HP. The present observations, however, were made in the absence of such radiation.
