Inter-hemispheric Comparison of Visual Stimuli in the Pigeon

Abstract

Monocularly trained pigeons show inter-hemispheric reversal of left–right mirror images. This cannot be explained by binocular “confusion”. Pigeons were monocularly trained to discriminate between crossed lines and parallel oblique lines. The response in binocular viewing conditions showed that pigeons do not confuse crossed and oblique lines when each line is simultaneously presented to opposite eyes.
