Demonstration of Nerve Terminals Containing Adrenaline by a New Histochemical Technique

Abstract

PREVIOUS reports on the presence of high concentrations of adrenaline in the frog heart have been confirmed and extended1. Using the histochemical technique of Falck in whole mount preparations of the atrium and sinus venosus of the frog, it was shown that tissue catecholamines were confined within the nerve fibre terminals of the sympathetic plexus. These findings were in agreement with a previous report2.
