Abstract
THE effects of ionizing radiation on aqueous solutions of many natural amino-acids have been the subject of a number of studies1–6. Although the mode of action of radiation on amino-acids and the nature and yield of the products of their radiolysis are far from clear, appreciable progress has been made in the investigation of the problem, especially in the examples of glycine7–9 and alanine10–12. One point of interest in the radiolytic transformation of amino-acids is the possibility of radioformation of amino-acids not originally present in solution6–8,11,12.
