Experimental Chimerism in a Genetic Defect in the House Mouse Mus musculus

Abstract

IT is well known that, in man, mixoploidy (chromosome mosaicism) of normal and abnormal cell lines leads to a dilution of the abnormal phenotype, for example, in Down's and Turner's syndromes where the abnormal cells are, respectively, trisomic 21 or XO. It can be expected that appropriate tissue mosaicism for a point mutant for an inborn inherited metabolic error might lead to a dilution of, depending on the point of view, the normal or the deviant biochemical phenotypes.
