Abstract
IN recent years few localized astronomical X-ray sources have been discovered by rocket- and balloon-borne instruments. To explain the X-ray emission by celestial bodies several production mechanisms have been invoked such as the inverse Compton effect, bremsstrahlung in a ‘hot’ plasma cloud, synchrotron radiation and thermal emission.
