Abstract

IT has been demonstrated by Boldingh and Taylor1 that butterfat contains various γ- and δ-lactones in amounts of 1–20 p.p.m. Using the isotope dilution method, 5-octanolide, 5-decanolide, 5-dodecanolide and 5-tetradecanolide could be determined quantitatively.
