Abstract

USING synthetic substrate p-tosyl arginine methylester (TAME) and lysine methylester (LMe), Ablondi and Hagan1 observed that plasminogen incubated in 50 per cent glycerol phosphate solution lost proactivator activity and gained spontaneous plasmin activity. Kline2 examined pseudoglobulin (acid-extracted) plasminogen under the same conditions and found no decline in proactivator activity during the spontaneous activation process. We repeated these investigations with euglobulin (tricalcium phosphate-extracted) plasminogen and we examined the effects of lysine and glyceraldehyde on the system.
