Sex Determination and Genic Balance of Ophryotrocha puerilis, a Hermaphrodite Polychaete Worm

Abstract

PURE male and female individuals were obtained from protandrous hermaphrodite strains of Ophryotrocha puerilis trough selection for the prolongation of the male phase and for the anticipation of the female phase. Both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean sub-species of O. puerilis show polygenic sex determination1.
