A New Molluscicide 1-(p-Nitrophenyl)-2-amidineurea Hydrochloride (T 72)

MOLLUSCICIDE Bayer 73 or 5,2-dichlor-4′-nitrosalicylanilide, better known as ‘BayluscidR’, has been shown to be a potent molluscicide1. The chemical similarity of T 72 to Bayer 73 (ref. 2) led us to investigate its possible molluscicide property. T 72 is known to be active against malaria3–6 and against several intestinal infestations7. It has the following structural formula:
