This strain, long referred to in the biochemical literature as ‘Vibrio 01’, has none of the morphological properties which define the genus Vibrio-It has been identified recently by Sebald and Véron (Ann. Inst. Pasteur, 105, 897; 1963) as a typical representative of the genus Moraxella Lwoff; and we use here the correct generic designation for it.
