Abstract
ELECTROPHORESIS in horizontal gels (starch, agar, acrylamide, etc.) has been widely used as an analytical tool but has not been very successful for preparative purposes. The recovery of the separated material from the gels is cumbersome and usually incomplete. We have tried to overcome these difficulties by means of the device schematically represented in Fig. 1. It combines, in a single run, the electrophoretic separation of the sample and the recovery of the resolved components by continuous elution.
