Abstract
GOUIN1 has directed attention to some interesting observations of the reversal of the peak depicting the noon maximum in the quiet day variation of the horizontal intensity of the Earth's magnetic field at Addis Ababa, the geomagnetic latitude of which is 05° 2′ N. and magnetic latitude is 0.5° S. He suggested that this reversal is due to the large L variations, Trivandrum and Annamalaina-gar are the Indian Magnetic Observatories very near the magnetic equator operating since the latter half of 1957 as part of India's co-operation in the IGY–IGC programme. The co-ordinates of these observatories are as follows: The location of these stations close to the magnetic equator renders their records comparable with the interesting observations made by Gouin at Addis Ababa.
