Abstract
IT has been reported that chromomycin A3, a new antitumour agent produced by Streptomyces griseus No. 7, has inhibitory effects on the growth of inoculated sarcoma 180 of mice as well as on cultured cells of the HeLa strain1 and transplantable tumours2. Evidence has been obtained in our laboratory which indicates that chromomycin A3 selectively inhibits biosynthesis of RNA in mammalian cells.
