In vitro Examination of the Ribonucleic Acid–Deoxyribonucleic Acid–Deoxyribonuclease System in Mammals

Abstract

THERE is a considerable number of substances which inhibit the activities of deoxyribonuclease (DNase). Some of the natural inhibitors appear to have a relative specificity of action; these are substances of protein nature active against the DNase of yeast1 or against the DNase of the bovine pancreas2,3, or ribonucleic acids (RNA) extracted from certain species of micro-organisms and specifically active against a very small number of bacterial DNases4–6.
