Abstract

Tetramitus rostratus Perty possesses independent amœboid and flagellate stages in its exclusively asexual life-cycle. Each stage reproduces indefinitely by binary fission, and under still inadequately known conditions, these stages have been reported to transform one into the other. Different authors have classified this protozoon as an amœba1 and as a flagellate2.
