Electron Affinity of the Acceptor Molecule in Charge-Transfer Complexes

Abstract

WHEREAS the influence of the structure of the donor molecule in charge-transfer complexes on the stability and spectroscopic behaviour of these complexes has been investigated extensively, the role of the electron acceptor has been much less studied. One reason for this emphasis is the lack of measurements of a parameter related to the electron affinity of the acceptor molecule, in contrast to the fairly readily available ionization potentials of the donors.
