Abstract
THE value of data from laboratory animals for the interpretation of the incidence of congenital abnormalities in human beings was first pointed out some time ago by Wright1. Results I have obtained from a balanced two-point backcross linkage experiment in the mouse have shown an effect of maternal age both on viability and recombination. The purpose of this communication is to present these results and discuss their implications for similar phenomena in human beings.
