Abstract
THE effects of freezing and thawing on the structural and functional integrity of various biological materials, for example tissue, red blood cells1, spermatozoa2 and mitochondria8, nave received increasing attention recently, especially from the point of view of low-temperature storage. At the level of isolated enzyme proteins, investigations4,5 have been qualitative in nature.
