Structure of the I : I-Adducts of Cupric β-Diketone Chelates with Heterocyclic Bases

Abstract

IN a recent communication, Traill1 raises the question of the structure of the 1 : 1-adducts formed by cupric β-diketone chelates with heterocyclic bases in organic solvents2. The same question has been raised privately by others, and it seemed, therefore, that we should seek some further evidence in support of the 5 : co-ordinated structure (I) originally proposed as against the 4 : co-ordinated structure (II) suggested by Traill.
