Abstract
THE conversion of serine to glycine in animal tissues was first demonstrated by Shemin1 by a feeding experiment using serine labelled with nitrogen-15 and carbon-13 in the carboxyl group. The involvement of a folic acid derivative as a co-factor in the reaction was shown both by Kisliuk and Sakami2 and Blakley3.
