Abstract
Dr. A. F. Parker-Rhodes and Mr. T. Joyce1 state that if ϕ(ν) is the number of words in a vocabulary which occur Tν times in a text of T words, then it has been shown by word counts that ϕ(ν) = a/ν2. They put forward a theory to account for this distribution.
