Secretory Potentials and Secretion in the Sublingual Gland of the Cat


INTRACELLULAR recording from sublingual gland cells in cats has revealed that the resting potential over the outer membrane is about 30 mV. (internal negativity). On repetitive stimulation of the chorda nerve, the potential difference increases to 50–60 mV., and this potential change is called a secretory potential1.
