Abstract
UNKNOWN substances containing iodine, apparently associated with inorganic iodide, have been detected in the plasma of patients who had previously received therapeutic doses of radioiodide1,2. These substances were discovered by chromatographic separation of the radioactivity present in butanol extracts. The methods of preparation involved paper chromatography with acid solvents1 and extraction of acidified plasma2.
